What is an Immersive Training?

A training grounded in lived experience

Immersive Training brings together direct experience, study, reflection and practice in an in-person setting, allowing understanding to develop through what we encounter for ourselves.

Across the training, we experience multiple Dreamwave sessions, explore the foundations that help us understand the process, and practise the capacities involved in holding space for others.

We move between experiencing, observing, discussing and practising, connecting what we learn with what we encounter in our own bodies, perceptions, relationships and experience.

A profound experience of transformation, learning and understanding, grounded in the body, the mind, relationship & awareness.

Study & understand

Study what is happening

Alongside direct experience, we explore the foundations that help us understand what is happening within the process.

We connect lived experience with perspectives from neuroscience, psychology and philosophy: the body, nervous system, brain activity, perception, consciousness and the rhythms of sleep and wakefulness.

The study gives language and context to what we encounter, allowing experience and understanding to inform one another.

We learn by experiencing, practising and observing.

Practice & experience

Practice holding space

Understanding develops through practice. Throughout the training, we explore what it means to be present with another person, sense what is unfolding and respond with care and choice.

We practise observing and reading the space, developing awareness of the body, the environment and the relationships within it.

Through guided exercises, paired and small-group work and reflection, we explore capacities such as body mapping, touch, working with sound, responding to what emerges and creating conditions that support each person’s experience.

This is where knowledge becomes embodied skill: through repeated practice and reflection, we develop the presence and discernment needed to hold space for others.

Your learning

What you will develop

The training brings together knowledge, direct experience and practical learning. You develop a deeper understanding of the process while building the embodied and facilitation capacities to carry the practice forward, whether through your own practice, facilitating others, or growing into training others.

  1. Understand the process

Explore the physical, psychological and experiential dimensions of Dreamwave.

  2. Develop embodied awareness

Become more attuned to the body, nervous system, perception and responses through direct experience.

  3. Learn to observe and respond

Develop your capacity to notice what is unfolding and make informed choices within the space.

  4. Develop facilitation and training foundations

Practise holding space, responding to what emerges and building the foundations to facilitate or grow into training others.

For whom

Who is this training for?

Immersive Training is designed for people who want to develop their understanding and experience of Dreamwave through an intensive, in-person learning environment. Participants come with different intentions, while sharing a desire to learn through experience, study and practice.

  1. For your own
    exploration

For those who want to explore their own process, deepen their understanding of Dreamwave and develop a richer relationship with their body, perception, patterns and experience.

  2. For future
    facilitators

For those who feel called to facilitate and want to develop the experiential knowledge, embodied awareness and practical foundations required to begin holding space for others.

  3. For developing
    your practice

For those already engaged with Dreamwave or innerdance who want to expand their embodied understanding and continue learning through direct experience, including facilitators who feel called to grow into training others.

Each training welcomes people at different points in their journey. What brings everyone together is a commitment to learning through direct experience, reflection and practice.

In their words

Voices from participants

“The training gave me the space to experience the practice for myself while also understanding what was happening beneath the experience. Bringing those two perspectives together changed the way I relate to my own process.”
Eva S.
“What I valued most was the opportunity to practise. I gained a much clearer sense of what it means to hold space, observe what is unfolding and respond with greater presence and choice.”
Oliver S.
“The combination of experience, study and being in a group made the learning feel very alive. I left with a stronger foundation, new perspectives and a deeper sense of how I want to continue developing my practice.”

Who leads the trainings

Ahilan & Fanny

Ahilan Sundaralingam and Fanny Lemieux lead the Immersive Trainings. Both have practised innerdance since 2017, and the trainings grow from that shared experience.

Together they have taught and facilitated in Europe, Asia and Canada, in group spaces, individual sessions and trainings.

They both love to work with emergence. Each training is unique, formed by the group that gathers, and always an interesting combination of knowledge and experience together with integration.
