What happens in a session?

01

Arrive

We begin together in a circle, taking time to arrive, connect and settle into the space.

Participants spend time sitting together in the circle before moving into their own space for the experience.

02

Experience

You move into your own space, usually lying down with your eyes closed.

A sound journey, frequencies and facilitation create the conditions for your experience to unfold.

03

Share & close

We return to the circle and make space to share, reflect and reconnect.

Sharing can take many forms: words, sensations, impressions or simply being present with the group.

Possibilities

What might I experience?

  • Sensations

Changes in bodily awareness, temperature, vibration, pressure, tingling or other sensations.

  • Emotions

Feelings may arise, shift, move through or open into emotional release.

  • Images & memories

Images, visions, memories, childhood recollections, associations or impressions may surface.

  • Thoughts & perception

Thoughts may become more noticeable, perspectives may shift, and you may experience a heightened awareness of the mind.

  • Movement & stillness

Spontaneous movement, twitching, gestures, expansion and contraction, deep rest or stillness may arise.

  • Something difficult to name

Some experiences can move beyond familiar language: a sense of transcendence, connection with something larger than the individual, or a more collective or cosmic dimension of experience.

All ways of experiencing are welcome. What unfolds is personal to you.

How the space is held

Sound, facilitation and the space itself come together to create the conditions for each experience.

SoundFacilitationSpaceYour experience

Sound

Each session unfolds through an intentionally created sound journey. The playlist may be prepared in advance or created live in response to the space.

The sound is primarily built from sounds and noises rather than conventional music alone, creating a multilayered and vibrationally diverse soundscape.

The different layers, frequencies, textures and qualities of sound can create a wide range of sensory experiences. At times, some sounds may feel intense, unfamiliar or even uncomfortable, while at other moments they may feel spacious, immersive or soothing.

The sound journey is structured around the 12 stages of the transformation journey, supporting a process of change, exploration and unfolding throughout the experience.

Facilitation

The facilitator brings presence, attention and responsiveness to what is unfolding.

Depending on the session, facilitation may include intuitive touch, instruments, voice, scent and other forms of sensory engagement.

Space

Dreamwave can take place individually or in a group.

In a group session, each person has their own experience while also contributing to the atmosphere of the space. The group becomes part of the experience through presence, shared attention and the subtle ways people co-create the space together.

Part of a larger process

Before your session

Come as you are and give yourself time to arrive. You can simply bring curiosity and openness to the experience.

The session begins together in a circle, where we take time to arrive and connect before moving into the experience.

You will spend time both sitting together in a circle and lying down, so bring:

  • your own yoga mat
  • comfortable clothing
  • anything that helps you feel physically comfortable
  • water if useful

Give yourself permission to experience. Stay curious. Allow whatever emerges to have its own pace and shape.

After the experience

We leave some space to come back, share and reconnect.

What you experienced may feel immediately clear, subtle, surprising, emotional, physical or difficult to put into words. Sometimes its meaning continues to unfold later.

Integration can continue beyond the session, in its own time and in its own way.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a Dreamwave session?

A Dreamwave session is a facilitated, embodied experience rooted in innerdance. Participants spend time together in a circle before moving into an intentionally created sound journey, usually lying down with their eyes closed. Sound, frequencies, facilitation and the shared space create conditions for each person’s experience to unfold.

What happens during a Dreamwave session?

A session generally moves through three parts: arriving together, the experience itself, and sharing and closing. The experience may include sound, frequencies, intuitive facilitation and sensory elements such as instruments, voice or scent, depending on the session.

What might I experience during a Dreamwave session?

Experiences can include sensations, vibrations, emotions, emotional release, memories, visions, thoughts, shifts in attention, spontaneous movement, twitching, stillness, expansion and contraction, or experiences that feel transcendent, collective or connected to something larger than the individual.

Do I need previous experience with innerdance?

Dreamwave welcomes people at different stages of exploration. Curiosity and openness are enough to begin. Each session offers space to discover the practice through direct experience.

What should I bring to a Dreamwave session?

Bring your own yoga mat, comfortable clothing and anything that helps you feel physically comfortable while sitting and lying down. You may also want to bring water and an extra layer for the resting portion of the session.

Is Dreamwave a group or individual experience?

Dreamwave can be offered individually or in a group. Individual sessions allow for a more personal space, while group sessions bring an additional relational dimension. Each participant has their own experience while contributing to the shared atmosphere of the space.

What is the role of the facilitator?

The facilitator holds the conditions for the experience through presence, attention and responsiveness. Depending on the session, facilitation may include intuitive touch, instruments, voice, scent, movement or other sensory elements. The facilitator can work with a prepared playlist or create the sound journey live.

What kind of sound is used in a Dreamwave session?

Each session uses an intentionally designed sound journey built primarily from sounds and noises, creating a multilayered and vibrationally diverse soundscape. The playlist may be prepared in advance or created live and is structured around the 12 stages of the transformation journey to support a process of change and unfolding.

Do I have to share my experience afterward?

The closing circle offers space to share, reflect and reconnect. You can express your experience through words, sensations, impressions or other forms of expression that feel natural to you. Simply being present with the group is also part of the closing.
